How do I link to the RSS feed?
The easiest way to get our updates is by email!
If you do this you can ignore everything else that follow!

There are a couple of good articles out there (probably lots, but I found these two) on feeds and what they are and how to link to them. An RSS feed (RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication – if ever there was something wrongly named … ) is a way of getting update information from a blog to your computer, so you know when something has been udpated. Like when we make a new post on this blog.
I’d start with this – http://www.press-feed.com/howitworks/rss_tutorial.php#howdopeoplereadfeeds and read the section on “how do people read feeds?” – I’ve cheated and put it below …
To receive an RSS feed, you need a newsreader – or content aggregator.
In the same way that you need a radio receiver to be able to hear radio stations, you need a feed reader to get the feed content.
There are Web-based readers like Bloglines and My Yahoo.
There are also downloadable newsreaders you can install on your desktop like our PRESSfeed reader. Download our free reader
Others, like NewsGator, have both free and paid services.
Newsreaders offer a variety of special features, including combining several related feeds into a single view, hiding items that the viewer has already seen, and categorizing feeds and items.
Once you set up your reader with your preferences, it will collect the feeds you’re interested in every time there is an update.
There is also a good longer article on feeds here – http://websearch.about.com/od/rsssocialbookmarks/f/rss.htm
It’s seems VERY complicated, but there is a trick!
THE EASY WAY
Internet explorer users click here
Firefox users click here
Google Chrome users click here
Apple Safari users click here
Other browsers contact me
It’s perfectly possible to put the feed on an iGoogle index page, or into another RSS feed reader, but that’s beyond the scope of this beginner’s article.
IF YOU ARE USING INTERNET EXPLORER (fairly easy)
Go to http://www.nickysgaythailand.com/gay-blog/feed/ this will open in a new tab
Click the link at the top that says “Subscribe to this feed”

On the pop-up box that appears there’s a drop down next to ‘create in’. You can make a new folder if you want. MOST IMPORTANT THOUGH, tick the box marked ‘Add to favorites bar’

Click the ‘subscribe’ button and you will get a link on your favorites bar.
All you have to do is click it, and a drop down list of the last 20 posts will appear.
IF YOU ARE USING FIREFOX (very easy)
Go to http://www.nickysgaythailand.com/gay-blog/feed/ this will open in a new tab
Make sure the drop down at the very top (which says “Subscribe to this feed using …”) says “LIVE BOOKMARKS”

Click the button which says “Subscribe now” and you will get a ‘feed’ in your bookmarks. You can even put it on your toolbar.

Then all you have to do is click it in the bookmarks toolbar, and a drop down list of the last 20 posts will appear.
IF YOU ARE USING CHROME (reasonably easy)
First you need to add an app to Chrome
Go to the Chrome web store – https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/jpgagcapnkccceppgljfpoadahaopjdb
This will offer the “Foxish live RSS” – click the “add to Chrome” button
Then go back to the blog http://www.nickysgaythailand.com/gay-blog
In the browser bar you will see the RSS link button
Click this and a pop up will ask – Click to subscribe… – select “Nicky’s Gay Blog » Feed”
You will get a new tab open looking as below

The only change you have to do here is on the line that says “Site URL” change the address to http://www.nickysgaythailand.com/gay-blog – in other words take the ‘feed/’ off the end of the address you’re offered.
Click the subscribe button
Then you will have the feed on the Bookmarks toolbar
(Whoops – you can see I play Angry Birds – oh well!)
IF YOU ARE USING SAFARI (easy, but not the best result)
Go to the blog http://www.nickysgaythailand.com/gay-blog
In the browser bar you will see the RSS link button
You will get a drop down list – select “Nicky’s Gay Blog – Feed”
In the right hand column of the screen that appears, click “add bookmark”
Then from the next drop down select “Bookmarks Bar”
Click add – and on the bookmarks bar, you will have our blog. There’s one drawback with Safari over the other browsers. We’ve not found out how to make a drop down feed, giving a list of headers of the posts. The number in brackets shows how many posts you’ve not looked at.
NOW (we thought) THAT’S EASY!
Alternately just check back daily to see what we’ve updated! That always works too!
