There are a few closings in Patong, which we are sad to report.
James Dean Bar & Restaurant in Likit Plaza – now closed
Temptasian Paradise Complex – now closed
Jan Bar & Restaurant Paradise Complex – now closed
To counteract this, the new massage in Soi Paradise is now open – 2 Hands Massage is next to the Tangmo Club. Our man on the island went in and here’s his review.
“Initial impression look good, smart outside area with shrubbery leading into a small reception area where you can choose the masseur of your choice. There are currently 10 boys available. The bare chested boy caught my attention. The lads wore there own clothing, no uniform/branding. All the staff appeared pleasant enough.
The reception area leading to the staircase and rooms above were clean and fresh which one would expect from a new venue.
My room was large with a double bed, small wardrobe, chair, private bathroom with shower and toilet. This room was used as one of the guest rooms by the previous owner. Again the rooms were clean and inviting. However the shower itself lacked maintenance, the tap regulating both temperature and flow of water, kept falling off each time you turned it.
The queen size mattress was the same type that one would use on a normal bed so whenever the masseur applied pressure you sunk into the mattress.
The massage itself started off well but after a while the boy appeared to lose interest, spending nigh on 30 minutes massaging my right arm (never got round to the left one!). He was a clean and pleasant lad with a reasonably good understanding of the English language.
Overall, I thought it was a bit pricey:
THB 600 for 60 minutes with a THB 1000 mandatory tip for the masseur
THB 900 for 90 minutes with a THB 1500 mandatory tip for the masseur
You pay the masseur’s tip to the boy direct, whether he is allowed to keep it all I wouldn’t like to say. I suspect that he has a pay a % of it towards the salaries of the staff other than the masseurs.
I will give it another visit though with a different masseur in about a month’s time before coming to a final decision. Current rating 5/10.”
Finally on the good news, Sundowner’s Bistro is still doing their great Friday weekly Barbecue. They also boast the cheapest draught Chang in Soi Paradise. So there’s plenty of reason to go there and enjoy. You can buy a draught in any of their Bars, the Lounge or the Bistro and take it with you!
